Award winning dairy farm offering a unique opportunity to be a key part of it’s success. There are two positions on offer.  We are seeking experienced Milkers who can demonstrate a clear focus on quality and cow husbandry skills. Applications welcome from couples/friends willing to share the accommodation  provided in  a recently renovated 3 bed farmhouse. 

The farm:

Recognised for high yielding cows, high quality genetics and profitable milk production, this progressive farm has 1,100 Holstein herd on 1,600 acres. Milking is completed twice daily in a 60 point GEA parlour. The herd are cubicle housed all year and TMR fed.

The position/Applicant:

The main focus of the  roles on offer will be milking twice daily with an emphasis on good milking protocols and skilled cow husbandry.

The successful applicants must have previous milking experience but also be  willing to learn and implement the protocols in place here.

A full driving licence is required. AI  would be an advantage but not essential.

Good references essential.

A recently renovated 3 bed farmhouse will be provided  to successful applicants.

This is a contract position, where the successful person will operate as an agency worker with Farm Solutions. This means that the person will not have sub-contractor responsibilities and all statutory tax deductions and payments will be made by Farm Solutions on their behalf. Hourly pay operates, which includes pay for overtime hours worked.

Herdsperson in Cornwall Ref 1299  -  Enquire about this vacancy»

Position : Herdsperson required

The Farm:

 We are seeking an Herdsperson to join our clients team on a  progressive 500 cow dairy herd in Cornwall. Milking is completed  three times daily in a modern 60 point rotary parlour. Herd Housing is in sand bedded cubicles.

The main role will be to manage the milkings and parlour routine, oversee and work together with other team members and milking staff. This will mean being practically involved within the milking rota, being on top of herd health and care, dairy hygiene and standards.

Seeking a good stockperson who has good knowledge of cows, ability to fit into existing team structure and lead parlour duties. 

The successful person  will be:

Experienced and competent in milking and use of modern milking parlours.

Experienced in milking of herds in excess of 200 cows.

Able to run the milking and parlour team.

A good communicator.

Have a genuine focus on herd health and care.

Have a strict focus on dairy hygiene and standards within the milking regime. 

Area:

Beautiful location and within a few miles of the coast/beaches.

Appropriate accommodation  will be provided.

Position: Milker

Location: Yeovil

The Farm.

Well equipped dairy farm with a herd of 170 cows seeks a competent Milker to join a high performance team. Milking is completed twice daily in a Fullwood Herringbone parlour. The herd are housed at calving and Wintertime in sand bed  cubicles. A TMR  and grassland  feed system is in place. Autumn block calving is in operation.

The position/applicant:

It is essential that applicants are proven competent Milkers who can quickly become a reliable and efficient member of a high performance team with a focus on hygiene,  herd care and parlour duties.

Specific duties will include:

  •  Drying off, treating cows  
  •  Keeping the parlour and dairy clean
  •  Day book entries only
  •  Nightly Checks – calving and bulling cows
  •  Raking  cubicles and a  little yard work
  •  Pulling out cows and making vet lists for routine visits
  • Grassland management

Accommodation will be provided.

Dairy Farm Team Manager / Staff Production Manager - Devon- Ref 1387  -  Enquire about this vacancy»

The farm:

This progressive large dairy unit runs a dairy herd of 700 cows.  Milking is completed  three times daily in a 40 point rotary. Cows are TMR feed and are cubicle housed with sand beds.

The position/applicant:

We are seeking a capable and proactive manager to take primary responsibility for the 10 member dairy team.

To take on this role, you will need to have strong leadership skills to positively motivate team members and proactively promote high quality standards across all aspect of the dairy unit.

May be suited to applicants  from a dairy background at a stage in their careers when they would like less of a 'hands-on' role and are ready to move to a role where they can manage,  mentor and lead a dairy team.

Our client welcomes applicants with an enthusiastic and inclusive approach who are solution focused with a strong work ethic.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Team Management
  • Capability to maximise the performance of a diverse team and ensure respect is displayed at all levels within the team to all team members.
  • Review of existing protocols, improvement of same and implementation of new protocols as appropriate.
  • Training and support of team in protocols and compliance with same to ensure efficiency and top performance of the dairy herd. This includes new team member training.
  • To ensure all quality standards enable team to reach milk performance targets.
  • To introduce and employ incentive schemes for staff members.

There are defined team structures and roles in place, operated on a rota basis for which the newly appointed manager will be responsible. Additionally, this position will not involve any of the usual animal husbandry as the farm have an in-house vet 3 to 4 days per week who works with the 2 Herdspeople  on the team  under manager guidance to ensure appropriate protocols are followed in respect of same.

A house  will be provided for the successful candidate.
